“Squaring Tradition”The traditional Enkang settlement is an action space in the family and social life of the Maasai and a meeting place of the council of elders. The settlement has an extensive wall around it and consists of round or star-shaped huts (enkaji) grouped around a central point.“Inspired by the Kenyan settlements structures of the Maasai, the new chancellery in Nairobi is organized analogous to an Enkang.”
